Description

Training

will take place on Saturday 09 October and Sunday 10 October. In addition to the training, a fun Working Equitation competition featuring both the Ease of Handling and the Speed Trial phases is scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday 10 October.

The competition may be done mounted (as is normal in Working Equitation), or non-mounted (in-hand, on-line or at liberty). Participants can choose to attend either or both days.

Please note that we are sorry, but Stallions cannot participate.

Saturday

will comprise of 8 one hour sessions between 9am and 5:30pm. The sessions can either be taken as private one-on-one lessons, or shared with a friend.

Sunday

morning will comprise of 4 one hour sessions that can be taken privately, or shared with a friend.

Lessons

are designed to help participants introduce unusual obstacles, or train new movements to their horse, such as a Full Pass, Rein Back, Turn on the Forehand, or Turn on the Haunches.

If you (and your horse) are totally new to Working Equitation you will be encouraged to start your lesson in-hand, or on-line, so that you can introduce the obstacles and movements in a fun and safe way that you will both enjoy.

If you have had previous experience at Working Equitation, or attended one of our previous clinics, you may prefer to have the whole lesson in the saddle and concentrate on working on correct lines, bends, arena geometry and smooth transitions, both at and between the obstacles.

Competition

will start at 2pm Sunday afternoon and includes both the Ease of Handling and the Speed Trial Phases and will be open to non-participants of the clinic as well as those who have attended the training sessions. The competition may be done mounted (as is normal in Working Equitation), or non-mounted (in-hand, on-line or at liberty).

Obstacles are scored out of 10 in the Ease of Handling phase and on time in the speed trial. Please note that a further 60 Collective Points are available for the Ease of Handling phase. These are as follows:

Collective marks are based on the 0-10 scoring scale and refer to gaits, impulsion, submission and the rider’s position and seat, appearance and use of aids.. The following describes each element:
Navigation: The harmony and flow, the correctness of gaits between obstacles. Clear, accurate transitions between gaits. Effective course lines, correct leads and bending. (max 20 points)
Paces: Correctness, freedom, and regularity.
Impulsion: Willingness to move forward; elasticity of steps; suppleness of the back; engagement of the hindquarters. (Eager yet controlled energy – not speed.)
Submission: Attention and obedience; harmony; lightness and ease of the movements; acceptance of contact.
Rider: Appearance and tack of rider and horse. Position and seat of the rider. Correct use and effectiveness of the aids. (Invisible aids: no kicking or pulling; effortless; horse should look easy to ride.)

Overnight Stabling

If you wish to attend both days a limited amount of DIY Stabling and Field Pens are available.

Daytime Stabling

If you wish to stable your horse during the day then a limited amount of DIY Stabling is available. Please note that tying your horse to your trailer or box is not permitted. However, if your horse is happy to stay in the trailer/box they may be left in the there for a short period of time. If you have purchased Overnight Stabling, you can return your horse to your pen.
