Introduction to Pilates Video
Please watch this video BEFORE starting any of the courses offered on this site, particularly if you haven’t done Pilates before, or haven’t been to a Pilates’ class for a long time.
This short introductory video takes a quick look at the three foundations of Pilates – Alignment, Breathing and Core. It explains how to find a neutral spine and pelvis, the basics of lateral breathing and how to “zip and tuck” to engage your core. It is an absolute essential watch for anyone who hasn’t done Pilates before.
This short three session course is aimed at the advanced beginner/intermediate student. Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes and can be “done” independently or linked together to give a full hours’ workout. The first session works on the whole body, with the subsequent sessions focusing more on the core and the the hips. Around 55 mins of video.
Classical Pilates – The Hundreds
This first session of the premium Classical Pilates series focuses on ‘The Hundreds’ the first of Joseph Pilates’ classic mat work sequence.
Joseph Pilates, the creator of the discipline, said the following about practising the entire sequence of the 34 movements “in ten sessions you will feel a difference, in twenty, you will see a difference and in thirty you will have a whole new body”.
The Hundred is designed to get your circulation going, to warm up your powerhouse and to co-ordinate your breathing whilst keeping your core engaged.
